Super Mario Galaxy was much slower in speed, his Long Jumps were slowed down quite a bit too. The Speed in Mario 64 was very fast, just try long jumping to places and you'll see how faste Mario can go. The power ups in SMG also limited what attacks Mario could use, while in SM64 could use all of his attacks while transformed. Normal Mario in Galaxy couldn't do crap, unlike SM64 Mario who could do plenty of moves. (Limited version of the Koopa surfing) I don't count the Red Star power up because you never used it outside of the Obsevatory. Mario Galaxy had Spring Mario, (Only used in about 4 levels) Fire Mario, (Used once in awhile) Boo Mario, (Used about three times during the game.) Bee Mario, (A dumbed down version of Flying Mario in SM64) and Ice Mario. Some of this was present in Galaxy and some was completely gone. You could punch, kick, dive, long jump, swim, surf, fly, turn Metal, and turn Invisible. You could also wall kick faster in Super Mario 64. While in Super Mario 64 you could jump much higher, longer and faster. The gravity in Galaxy was stupid, you couldn't jump very high either. Mario 64 didn't have any puzzles either though. Mario Galaxy had no puzzles or very little, collecting star chips for some fat star to continue on in a level was stupid. Level Design was much better as you could chose different paths in Super Mario 64 while in Galaxy on every star except for like one, you had to go a certain way. Mario 64 had way better game play than Galaxy. Of course older 3-D games are going to have more glitches than newer ones. It's called Super Mario 64 not Super Luigi 64.ฤก0 year difference once again. Also with Bowser, your comparing something made nearly 10 years ago to something made just last year. I personally found the DS graphics alot more bland looking than the 64's though. The character design was going to change, Nintendo of course couldn't just take the N64 version with out dated graphics and put it on the DS. Also the DS was released after about 9 years after the 64 Mario 64 was released. They are obviously going to look much different. I don't get way your comparing box art of the character to the character design within the game. ![]() Super Mario 64 was much more original with it's music and didn't re-use music from older Mario games. The music did sound better in Galaxy I'll give you that but most of them are a bunch of remixes from older Mario games. There's really only 2 that really stuck into my mind and that's the Air Ship theme, and the Bowser Battle music. ![]() I'll add a little bit of my own comparison stuff too. I'll compare them like the first post did with Music, Character Modeling, Lack of Luigi, Glitches, and Gameplay and Level Design. Super Mario 64 is way better Super Mario Galaxy.
